That is very close to what our InstallScript was executing at the time of the error message:

haspdinst.exe -r -purge -cm
haspdinst.exe -i -v -cm

We will notify our client about the Antivirus and Firewall issue.

Thanks

Kevin

Hello Kevin,

as per error code returned, it states

ERROR_SERVICE_DISABLED
1058 (0x422)

The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

As mentioned here already, typically such issue happens when there is an Antivirus\AntiMalware SW blocking our service (C:\windows\system32\hasplms.exe) or when the Firewall policies stop port 1947 udp\tcp in inbound-outbound. In such case we'd suggest to temporarily disable such SW or add a valid exception.
Please update us back once you have news.

thanks
regards
Ilaria

Thanks for your help.  Most of the time, our installs work just fine, but every once in a while similar errors pop up.  We just had another customer with a different error during the install:

OPEN file c:\Users\...\AppData\Local\Temp\hhl01.cab processing error.  Status code 12.3.325.5

They were running McAfee AV - I tried to tweak some of the AV settings remotely and eventually got the installer to run, although I could not report exactly what made the difference.

Regards,

Kevin

Parallel Hardlock dongle Win 7 32-bit Not Recognized

I am having difficulty getting Sentinel ver 6.1 to recognize the dongle attached to LPT1.  The port parameters are:
PCI bus 0, device 31, function 0
ECP Printer Port (LPT1)
Device type: Ports (COM & LPT
Manufacturer: (Standard port types)
Location: on Intel(R) B85 LPC Controller - 8C50 - this matches the LPT port in Device Manager

If I configure the port parameters for the PCI bus in Sentinel configuration GUI the dongle is never detected.   If I configure the ECP port to be on port 378 and ISA bus the dongle is detected regardless of being plugged in or not - a false positive.

The LPT port is working as I can attach a printer and it works,  ECP mode is set in Bios as well.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

It is not clear how you tell your software what is the Parallel port I/O address used, once you changed your LPT1 settings to I/O port 378.

For Hardlock dongles it is usually done using System environment variable HL_SEARCH

The Hardlock supported I/O addresses are: 278, 378 and 3BC

So, you can use the following command to add the Environment variable:

Set  HL_SEARCH = 278p, 378p, 3BCp

if problems with bi-directional printer, try:

Set  HL_SEARCH = 278e, 378e, 3BCe

Also, could you confirm that your Parallel Hardlock has the following shape ?

If yes, then install our « Sentinel Runtime Installer version 7.32 »

http://www.sentinelcustomer.safenet-inc.com/DownloadNotice.aspx?dID=8589947119

reboot and try again.

Olivier

Sorry for the delay in replying.  The dongle is legacy old style.  I was reading in a troubleshooting guide the suggested settings for parallel port dongles.  Specifically within the SafeNet_Sentinel_End_User_Guide.pdf  I am trying to get the configuration tool to recognize the key with no luck so far.

Hi,

Hope you are doing good.

Just to check that the above issue is still there or not.

If yes, you can install our latest drivers available on the below mentioned link:

Please install the same and check the key in Device Manager (All the settings remain same as per the guide).

Also, to share that if your application is protected with 6.1 version of SDK which is quite old and not supported over Win 7.

Please feel free to get back to us in case of any further query.

Thanks,

Re : parallel Hardlock dongle under Windows 8.1 on a laptop?

Hi,

The general issue will be that parallel Hardlocks are supported up to Windows XP only and not later. It might work with Windows 8.1, but we can’t guarantee this.

The usage of LPT-to-USB converter will fail and is not supported, even with Windows XP. It’s mandatory to use a native parallel port, e.g. an ExpressCard Laptop Parallel Adapter Card as described by Olivier.

Hardlock module address change

Hello,

I have different software that uses hardlock keys in my network. To make p2v migration anywhere usb for single host was purchased. Everything was 'ok' except two hardlocks. They have the same module address and licensing two different programs. First one is for 20 users of program1 and second one is for 10 users of program2.

After I start HL-server with both hardlocks connected to the one server, it shows me I can use licenses for 30 users, but neither program is discovering its license. If I remove 1 of hardlocks (for 20 users for example) and restart hl-server, program which uses another hardlock works propertly and can detect licenses for all of 10 users.

So, how can I change module address for one of hardlock. If I can't do this, what should I do?

I'm getting the following message:

"Error when starting the hardlock service with parameters 0 0 0.
...
Status code: 48 5 829 1060"

I'm running it with the arguments - i -cm on a windows standard 32-bit system.

I'm unable to find any documentation about this status code, can anyone point me in the right direction for this?

Hi Martin,

Hope you are keeping well.

Please follow below mentioned steps and share your findings with us:

1- Please disable the Antivirus and firewall on target machine with admin rights.
2- Port 1947 should be free on target machine.
3- Open CMD as Administrator mode after that browse downloaded file and use below command in CMD:

haspdinst.exe -r -fr -kp -fss -purge (Remove Existing RunTime )

 Followed by

haspdinst.exe -i -fi -kp -fss (For install Runtime )

Thank You,

Anubhav

Hi!

I'm always running this installer on a clean system (pure windows, no previous installations, no antivirus etc) so I tried to disable the firewall before running the installer, this seems to have fixed the issue, thanks :-)

Problem with Drivers v7.41 and Windows 10 32 bit

I have a mature application, protected with hardlock working for a lot of time in hundreds of computers without problems and now I begin to find problems in some computers with Windows 10

The problem only appears in computers with Windows 10 32 bit (on windows 10 64 bit it works well)

I have tested my application with the last version of Drivers v7.41, It works fine on XP Win7 32/64 Win8/8.1 64 even on Win10 64 bit

But in Win10 32 bit  the following error appears

I tried to install the Drivers with HASPUserSetup741.exe (There were not errors during the installation)

Also With Cmd line installer as administrator

First: haspdinst.exe -r -fr -kp -fss -purge

then:haspdinst.exe -i -fi -kp -fss

I attempted disabling the firewall during the installation

I attempted the same things with several computers with Win10 32 bit, and inclusive with a clean installation of Windows 10 32 bit

The final result always the same : Error 1025 when run my application

I have noticed using haspdinst -info that hlvdd.dll doesn't appear in Win10 32 bit, perhaps that it is the problem

However the installer leaves a file hlvdd.dll in c:\windows\system32 (file date 9/24/2015  version: 2.21.1.1)

I tried to register it manually with regsvr32 hlvdd.dll, but I obtain the error DllRegisterServer entry point was not found

It seemed that an incompatibility exists, with the Drivers v7.41 with Win10 32 bit

I will thank your help to solve this problem

Dear Sergio,

this is a known issue: current runtime v7.41 does not install hlvdd.dll on Win10 x86 platform, while it works fine on Win10 x64.
The fix is going to be addressed in the upcoming runtime package included in major release Sentinel LDK 7.5 (expected around August this year - dates to be committed).
Please keep monitored our Sentinel LDK download section at pages:
http://www.sentinelcustomer.safenet-inc.com/sentineldownloads/?s=&c=all&p=Sentinel+LDK&o=all&t=all&l=all

or contact us in next months.
thanks

Dear Ilaria

Thanks for your answer

Through our Argentina´s Vendor, we have also entered in contact with the  Sentinel-Hasp Support team, but until now they neither could give us an answer  or solution

At the moment we have about 2000 customers that use our tool protected with Hardlock key

As our software is a control tool that has to do with the people's safety  area , for most of our customers, this tool is critical for its business

Due to the Microsoft policies, for upgrading Windows 10 in an automatic way, without requesting the approval of the users, we begin to receive daily an important number of users' incidents , because the tool stopped them to work when they were upgraded to Windows 10 on its computers.

We cannot wait until August to give answers to our customers.

Until is available the new driver versión, we would need to have some workaround , although in a temporary way, that allow us to solve the problema to our customers

we will thank your help

Sergio
